If you have been injured at work, a GP at Sydney Premier Medical & Health Centre can assess your injury, provide treatment, act as your nominated treating doctor, and issue a SIRA certificate of capacity for your workers compensation claim. We are in the Sydney CBD at Ground Floor, 309 Pitt Street, a short walk from Town Hall Station. Open Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:30pm.
What we help with
If you have been injured at work, one of our GPs can see you at our Pitt Street practice for assessment, treatment and the paperwork your workers compensation claim needs. Our doctors can act as your nominated treating doctor and work with you, your employer and the insurer on your recovery.
- Assessment and treatment of a work related injury or illness.
- Certificates of capacity for your workers compensation claim, issued and reviewed as your recovery progresses.
- Nominated treating doctor. Our GPs can take on this role and coordinate your care.
- Referrals for physiotherapy, imaging or specialist review where these are needed.
- Return to work planning, including advice on suitable duties, in consultation with your employer and insurer.

How WorkCover works at the practice
A work related injury is managed a little differently to a standard appointment. After your first visit, your GP can issue a certificate of capacity, which sets out what work you can safely do while you recover. Your doctor becomes your nominated treating doctor, the point of contact who coordinates your treatment and communicates with your employer and the insurer.
You can be seen for a work injury even if your claim number has not come through yet. Bring what you have, and reception will explain how the visit is billed.
What to bring to your appointment
- Your claim number, if one has been issued.
- Your insurer and case manager details, if you have them.
- Your employer’s name and contact details.
- Details of how and when the injury happened.
- Photo identification and your Medicare card.
- Any certificates, scans or reports you already have.
Recovery at work
Staying at work in some capacity, where it is safe to do so, often supports a better recovery than being away completely. Your GP will discuss suitable duties with you and set these out on your certificate of capacity, so you and your employer have a clear plan.
Billing
The first WorkCover appointment is paid for by you, and reception will confirm the fee when you book. After the first appointment, if your claim is accepted as valid, further consultations and treatment related to your injury are billed directly to your workers compensation insurer. Please tell reception when you book that the appointment is for a work injury.
